Basil Keane is Principal Advisor, Te Kāhui Hīkina, The Office for Māori Crown Relations - Te Arawhiti. The focus of his work is partnerships, which includes the development of advice on co-design.
Other focuses include Crown engagement with the National Iwi Chairs Forum under the Statement of Engagement, and providing support for partnerships involving iwi/Māori and Crown agencies.
In his previous position within Rautaki Māori at Ara Poutama – Department of Corrections he was part of the team that developed Hōkai Rangi – the Department’s current strategy. His iwi affiliations are Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa, Rangitāne o Wairarapa and Ngāpuhi.
