NAU MAI | WELCOME
Welcome to the GLN Lawyers in Government Conference 2021. We are so excited that, here in Aotearoa, we are now able to get together in person for this event.
The theme for the GLN Lawyers In Government Conference 2021 is inspired by the whakataukī (Māori proverb) “Whiria Te Tangata”.
The word “Whiria” can be interpreted in two ways: firstly, as a noun, meaning a “flock of birds”; and secondly, as a verb, meaning “to weave”. The words “Te Tangata” can be interpreted as “the people”. Together, Whiria Te Tangata means the act of weaving people together for a shared purpose the same way a flock of birds acts together to achieve a collective goal or outcome.
This whakataukī emphasises the importance of unity, connection and collectiveness of all the people in the Government Legal Network. Whiria Te Tangata aligns with the GLN vision to be informed, connected and engaged.
We look forward to seeing you at the conference, and celebrating together the wonderful opportunities, experiences and collegiality that being a government lawyer enables.
